How long does it take for a letter to go from the USA to Germany?

I'm sending a little white envelope to my friend in Germany. I'm sending it from Michigan. Please, help? I'd like to know how long it'll be until I get a reply, once she writes back and sends it, also. THANKS! (:

Well, my friend here in Ohio writes letters to her pen pal in Germany and according to her, it takes about 3 days to get there. So it shouldn't take too long :)
