Final rankings of 2011 FIVB Men’s Junior World Championship revealed
The exciting volleyball scrimmage of the men’s junior teams from all around the globe concluded on Wednesday, August 10. As sixteen teams fought for volleyball supremacy, the tournament was kicked off on August 1 and continued for almost two weeks. After
covering the early stage of preliminaries, the top-8 teams were highlighted. In the second leg of the tournament, teams played in the classification of two groups where each group was composed of eight teams. The ball kept rolling on and championship entered
the crucial final phase, which ultimately revealed the final ranking of teams. Last year, Brazil emerged as the top team of the tournament, while Cuba and Argentina finished 2nd and 3rd, respectively. This year, the ranking chart experienced
a little change as Russia cruised past to the top position.

Russia collected its 8th gold-medal at the FIVB Men’s Junior World Championship, this year. Last time they clawed their way to the title trophy in 2005, when they defeated archrivals Brazil. In the next editions of the tournament, Brazil did not
allow Russia to come up and seized the title trophy. Russia has the most number of medals in the competition, while Brazil comes second on the list. Russia has grabbed a total of 13 medals including 8 Gold, 2 Silver, and 3 Bronze since the start of the FIVB
Men’s Junior World Championship until now.
Brazil, on the other hand, is credited with 12 medals which include 4 Gold, 5 Silver, and 3 Bronze medals.
This year, Russia started their campaign very strongly and remained undefeated in the first round and they finished in the top-position of Pool C. Continuing with same momentum they further strengthened their position by winning all matches of the second
round. Russians successfuly found a place in the final showdown after capturing the semi-final. In the final match of 2011 FIVB Men’s Junior World Championship, they defeated Argentina and emerged as No. 1 team of the competition.
Defending champion Brazil couldn’t give out an up-to-mark performance and failed to qualify for the semi-finals. They played their last match of the tournament against Iran for 5th position and pulled off success. Brazilian were happy about the
final victory but seemed unsatisfied with the overall results. Serbs were lucky to claim their first ever bronze medal of the event.
