Durham overcame Lancashire by five wickets in a match of the County Championship Division One, at the Aigburth, Liverpool in, on Wednesday, June 29, 2011.
Day-one of the four-day game didn’t prove to be ideal for the batsmen as it saw 20 wickets fall. The hosts batted first and collected only 84 runs, losing all their batsmen in their first innings.
There were only two batsmen in the entire Lancashire first innings, who reached double figures. The highest score came from the bat of opening batsman,, who managed 27 runs for his side.
The innings was dominated by Durham’s bowler,, who ended up with six wickets, restricting the opposition to less than 100.
The pitch had moisture beneath it, which made life extremely difficult for the batsmen. The ball was playing a lot of tricks, as it moved off the seam and in the air.
Durham’s captain,, had absolutely no hesitation in fielding first after winning the toss.
