The Italian midfielder still locked in negotiations, but wants to stay at Stadio Olimpico Rome despite interest from Manchester United, Manchester City and Real Madrid
The agent of A.S Roma midfielder,, has once again insisted that his client wants to stay at Stadio Olimpico Rome despite continuous disagreement over a new contract.
De Rossi’s contract is set to expire at the end of the 2011/12 season, and the midfielder has been linked with a host of clubs. The Italian international has been closely monitored by Manchester City, Manchester United and
Real Madrid.
However, the midfielder has repeatedly expressed his desire to remain at Rome, and is hopeful of reaching a conclusion soon. Player’s agent, Claudio Pasqualin, is hopeful of reaching an agreement with the Giallorossi adding that
his client is committed to the club and wants to spend his entire career in
The agent admitted that leaving the club is a sentimental issue for the midfielder, as he emerged from Roma’s youth setup, and he loves the club a lot. The 28-year-old is tipped to replace as the next skipper of
the club.
“Roma cannot have failed to notice the English and Spanish calls, but De Rossi is Roman and a Romanista, so even if sentiment doesn’t always have a place in football, I think he’ll reach an agreement with Roma. It’s also true because,
if he didn’t, then Roma would have to give up many of their ambitions.”
Pasqualin further insisted that there has been a conflict over the release clause of the midfielder but they are hopeful of negotiating a deal.
“Maybe I was a little over the top with my optimism. The release clause is one of the contentious issues, so we could see a compromise. De Rossi wants to stay at Roma, even if as a professional he wants to optimise his situation.
The contract expires in June and there is sufficient time for the situation to evolve.”
De Rossi has been the most influential performer for the Giallorossi of late. Manager, Luis Enrique, sees him as an important member of his future plans, and wants him to sign a new contract.
