And it is with that in mind that Cricket Australia has announced it will be conducting a trials of the pink cricket balls in domestic three-day matches in early February. The trial will allow the pink cricket balls to be tested under match conditions its visibility under both natural and artificial lights, and to see if the ball suffers from discolouration throughout the innings.

“Cricket Australia is committed to finding a way to make day-night Test cricket a reality,” said Cricket Australia CEO James Sutherland. “The results of the trial won’t provide all the answers or a definitive outcome, but it will give us important information and feedback on the delivery of the project.”
