Carmelo Anthony finding ways to adjust in dream team
Carmelo Anthony has not even completed one-month tenure with the New York Knicks and the rumours have already started pouring in. The player who was traded to the New York Knicks back on 21 February had overcome a variety of rumours poking at him as a result
of his ‘destination unknown’ trade has yet another episode coming up. Let’s not ride over the same wave again, and peek into the latest in Melodrama.
The All-Star forward joined the New York Knicks, the same squad which is home to Amar’e Stoudemire. Yes, STAT… The excitement Melo had over joining his friend in his heart favourite team and all those months of hard work into getting his wish fulfilled seem
to be draining down the 26-year-old now. It might not be as bad as it seems but it’s getting evident with the passing days. Rumour has it that there are issues surrounding the newly traded player’s behaviour with his new team.
Yes, as it was predicted, Anthony is struggling to get the spot among the Knicks. His pouty on court behaviour has raised many an eye brows and controversies are already lingering around his relationship with coach and teammates. Anthony needs to be patient,
for we know that adjusting in a new team is hard. We all know that it takes time… Time is money and it is patience that pays you that amount.
There has been word about Melo and Stoudemire taking the team to the finals and making the Knicks contenders but nothing of that sort is shaping into form. Before the blockbuster trade, both Melo and his fans rejoiced to the very idea of him coming and taking
the reins of the Knicks into his hands, steering them to contender’s position in the league. However something of the complete opposite accord is happening now. The Knicks are treading on a thin line even after acquiring the superstar. All things aside, the
hot duo that was expected to take the squad to raging victories has faltered to a record of 7-7 in the 14 games the team has played since Anthony’s trade.
After the team started losing instead of winning as expected, the losses started to take its toll on New York’s coach Mike D’Antoni and why wouldn’t it? With Anthony came the promise of a prosperous future, a loss free record and what not. But some dreams
have no reality. They are just a result of one’s subconscious and fail to come to life. Same is the case with the dream that Melo and his fans saw before the superstar got traded.
On the other hand Anthony is facing problems due to his one-on-one ball handling. That tends to happen when you are fit into a squad that already has players with as much calibre as Stoudemire.
Anthony left for home without giving any comments to the press after Friday’s frustrating loss at Detroit. The player scored just six points, his lowest since joining the Knicks. He seemed to be agitated throughout the game and missed five of his shots in
the final quarter. He even refused to attend a timeout with his team-mates in the same loss. After the game was finished, teammate and friend Stoudemire said that there were some players who needed to buy coach’s system. We all know who he was talking about.
Anthony tried to dismiss the very core of the drama and accepted the fact that he lost temper and got frustrated after Friday’s loss. He might be denying the drama, saying, "No not at all, why would I do that?" but dear Melo, the script has already been
written.
