Car hire under 21 in Queenstown?

Me and a mate are going on a trip around south island of NZ in august. We will be aged 18 and 19 and will be flying into Queenstown and flying back from Wellington. We are from the UK and both have full UK drivers licences. Does anyone know if it is possible to hire a car from Queenstown and drop it off in Wellington considering we will be under 21? If so are there any companies anyone can recommend?

Also on a different note, where would be the best place to hire snowboards, boots etc. in Queenstown?

You won't have any issue. Nearly all the rental companies will let you hire their cars in Qtown, and drop off in Welliwood. There is a hire shop on every corner in Qtown, but probably best to do it up the mountain. Chur.

I thought you had to be 21 to hire a car in NZ, but it looks like Jucy car rentals hires to 18+.  http://www.jucy.co.nz/
