After seeing the films "The Darjeeling Limited" and "Silver Streak", my wife and I want to take a train trip. We love Canada and had planned on going to Calgary next summer anyway. Seems like a train ride would be the ultimate. Any suggestions?

  1. No -- the train does not stop in Calgary  The closest train station would be in Edmonton.

ViaRail has a North America Discovery Pass that is an amazing deal.  But they are about to phase it out.  If you buy it before Sept 30 it is valid for 1 year.  For 30 days of travel it costs $709-999.

  2. There is a passenger train that goes from Vancouver to Calgary through the beautiful mountains of British Columbia. Check for Rocky Mountain Railtours. You'd have to bus it from Bellingham, Washington to Vancouver (80 miles) probably as I don't think Amtrak goes there.
