Callaway signs a multi-year contract with US Amateur Champion Kelly Kraft – Golf News
Callaway Golf Company has signed a multi-year contract with the US Amateur Champion Kelly Kraft to endorse its products in the tournaments he will be featured in.
Kraft appeared in the Masters Tournament prior to turning professional this year. Thereafter, he made his professional debut at the Valero Texas Open and missed the cut after carding 71 and 79 in the opening two rounds.
However, his overall game was impressive, considering the fact that he was just a newly turned pro playing his first event.
According to the contract, he will be using the Callaway Golf woods, irons, wedges, and golf balls. Moreover, his complete attire will also endorse the Callaway Golf logo for its promotion on the course.
Kelly told that he was really confused while making the decision of joining hands with a golf equipment company to start off his professional career.
During the decision making process, he met with Callaway representatives who gave him a presentation of the state-of-the-art equipment they had with them.
Thereafter, the decision, according to him, was no more difficult to take and he chose the company for his future in the game.
“I am a proud new member of the Callaway staff and hope to add to their winning legacy," he said.
Kraft captained the Ryan High School golf team in 2006-2007. He also played for the Southern Methodist University team.
In 2011, he enjoyed the best of his amateur form and recorded victories in the Trans-Mississippi Amateur and US Amateur.
His great performances in the season earned him a place in each of the major tournaments, the Masters Tournament, US Open and the British Open in 2012.
In September 2011, he represented the US amateur team in the Walker Cup. Moreover, he tied for the 19th position in the 2011 Emirates Australian Open, the highest finish by an amateur in the event.
"Kelly has already accomplished a great deal in his impressive amateur career and we are thrilled to have him join our team of Callaway Golf staff professionals," said Nick Raffaele, Vice President, Global Sports Marketing, Callaway Golf.
"As Callaway gains momentum with a younger generation of golfers, Kelly is a perfect fit for our brand".
