Brisbane Heat add firepower to their bowling by snapping Kemar Roach - Cricket News Update
Brisbane Heat have made a major swoop in Australian Big Bash League’s initial transfer window by snapping up West Indian fast bowler Kemar Roach.
“We are super excited to come to terms with Kemar Roach for BBL/02.’’
“I think he will be a great addition to the Heat playing list and will give certainly the fans in Brisbane something to talk about when he comes along for the series. All going to plan he will play around five or six games which we expect him to make an
impact in,’’ said coach Darren Lehmann.
The Barbados-born fast bowler has so far played 41 One Day Internationals and 10 Twenty20s for his country and has taken 67 wickets in ODIs and 9 wickets in T20s.
With the ability to bowl consistently around 150 kph, Roach is famed for his pace and aggression. While Playing at Brisbane Cricket Ground, he will have the chance to freshen the memories of his fellow Barbadian, Wesley Hall, who terrorised batsmen with
his express pace and bounce.
Aussie batsman Peter Forrest and rising star were the other additions to the Heat’s squad on the final day of BBL transfer window, which opened on July 6.
Heat had already bolstered their squad with the acquisition of Shane Watson on a three-year deal earlier this week. The Queenslander was snared from Sydney sixers, the winners of the inaugural competition.
Windsor born Forest has represented his country in 15 ODIs and 9 T20s, scoring 175 runs at an average of 25. He has had the chance to skipper the Heat’s side on 6 occasions in the absence of regular captain James Hopes, who was injured.
Gannon hasn’t had the experience of playing T20 as yet, but his figures of 4-36 against to win a place in Heat’s squad.
Brisbane Heat will miss the services of last year’s performer
Brisbane Heat Squad: and Cameron.
