Boston Bruins Goalie Tuukka Rask reportedly signing with HC Plzen of Czech Republic -NHL Update
Just when Tuukka Rask was about to see his dream of taking over the main playing position with the Boston Bruins coming true, the National Hockey League (NHL) experienced another lockout, which definitely put strains on his plans of shining.
In order to continue playing and defying the lockout, the young goalie is reportedly going to be signing at any moment now with the HC Plzen of the Czech Republic, according to sources close with ESPN.
While the NHL will be waiting on a new collective bargaining agreement, something that might not happen in time to save the 2012-2013 regular season, Tuukka Rask will be playing overseas instead of wasting time on hopes and optimism.
Tim Thomas, the original Boston Bruins starting goalie, gave Rask the opportunity when he decided to take the next hockey year off in order to spend time with family and friends, after leading the Boston club to their first Stanley Cup championship in over
40 years. He could not perform as well as he did the following season, when the Bruins had to defend their title, which is seen as many experts as the leading cause in his disheartened situation.
Unsurprisingly, Rask is not the only member of the Boston Bruins club that has head out up until now keeping the lockout in view as Dennis Seidenber, defenseman for the Bruins, is also reportedly on the list as well and will be joining his brother, who is
playing for Addler Mannheim of the German hockey League.
Tyler Seguin has already made his exit to go and play with Switzerland along with Rick Peverley also reported to been in negotiation with a foreign club. David Krejci seems to be in discussions as well and is cited to be going to play in Russian, but no
club has been seen as his taker as of yet.
The Finnish native appeared in 23 games last season and had a 11-8-3 record with a .929 save percentage and 2.05 goals-against average.
He is currently on a one-year contract, which would have Boston evaluating him for the single season, when it actually does start if a lockout does not gobble it up.
