Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger believes that there should be a change in the rules regarding loans in the Premier League.
The Gunners boss went on to base his claims around the loan of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Emmanuel-Adebayor-c12526 to Tottenham Hotspur, from Manchester City.
The Togolese international has managed to score nine goals for Tottenham so far this season and has been a crucial part of the Spurs campaign.
However, the striker was not allowed to play against City this past weekend, mainly because they are still his parent club.
Wenger feels that this rule should be changed and clubs shouldn’t be allowed to loan players who are above the age of twenty one.
Wenger, when talking about his ideas on how things should take place went on to state: “Personally, I would not ban players on loan from playing against their own clubs”
“What I would like to see in the Premier League is that you are not allowed to loan players over the age of 21.
"At the moment it is an opportunity for some clubs to reinforce other teams, without losing ownership of the player.
“For example, if a big club sends a big player to another club in the Premier League on loan, they only have benefits.
“That player cannot face his own club, yet he could win games against their rivals.
“Therefore, I think it would be better if players over 21 didn’t go on loan in the top league.”
Wenger himself went on to sign http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786, despite the player being in his thirties.
In his defence, the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jack-Wilshere-c17463 was injured and he needed back up in his midfield.
Nonetheless, Wenger is not the first person to feel that there should be a change in the policies when loaning players and he is more than likely not to be the last one.
However, should more managers come forth and make similar claims then the FA and the Premier League will have no option but to try and reconsider their current policies in regards to player loans.
