Wolfie terms his neck injury as key hurdle towards BDO title
Martin Adams, after winning the BDO Championship for three consecutive times, was unable to claim victory this time because of the neck injury he experienced.
The Wolfie of darts cruised into the quarter finals of the event after he was able to defeat Gary Stone by 4-0, at Frimley Green.
With the way he is performing, there remains less doubt about the fact that he would miss the opportunity of lifting the BDO trophy yet again.
He has already made himself the winner in 2007, 2010 and 2011. The kind of performance he has been delivering so far has surely lessened his distance of becoming the ultimate winner and champion.
Commenting on his emphatic victory, the Londoner said that he has been trying to sort his game round by round.
He has been very careful when it comes to strategy making and the kind of game that he has to plan in reaction to counter the strategy being played.
He also said that the game of darts is gaining widespread attention all over the world. With the influence of the game expanding in every nook of the world, there will soon emerge a play that will raise this record to the ground in no time.
"Hopefully there will be players to push me and that's when I'll find out if I've still got it," he said.
Adams would have been greeted by a 27-year old Dutch electrician Wesley Harms, who has been able to make his place in the quarter finals of the event, after a convincing and rather upsetting 4-1 victory over his opponent, Robbie Green.
There are also chances that Adams might come across his 2009 finalist Tony O’Shea.
O’Shea has also been able to book his place in the quarter finals of the event after defeating his opponent, Ross Montgomery, by 4-1.
According to darts experts and pundits, if the two former opponents met each other on the oche yet again, the battle between the two would be legendary.
Adams will be battling to maintain his winning streak as the champion, whereas O’Shea will place everything at stake to avenge the defeat he had to face three years earlier.
With an eventful career of six major BDO wins, Martin Adams, also known as Wolfie, has finally been able to make his way into the second round of the BDO World Championship.
Adams was able to secure the position in the second round after defeating Scott Mitchell by 3-0.
The career of this darts player from Sutton has enjoyed is expected to play a pivotal role in providing him the breakthrough that he requires.
55-year old Adams is making every possible attempt through the help of which he can come shoulder to shoulder with veteran darts player, Eric Bristow.
In addition to this, his consistent number one ranking for the BDO further strengthens his portfolio and illuminates his chances of winning the trophy yet again.
