Question:

Which health insurance do you think would be better: Humana One, or through my university?

I'm currently enrolled with HumanaOne, but I'm going back to school and am offered their insurance at a similar cost. Does anyone have experience with either of these, or have an idea which coverage would be better? I'm going to do a close comparison, but I also though it would help to get any other opinions out there. Thanks.

  1. There is no absolutely right answer for your question.Nonetheless, explorer the information here might give you some ideas.HOpe it helps.http://health-insurance.expert-tip.info/...

  2. Generically speaking...University coverage is horrid and expensive.  I had a new client in this week.  She's going to VCU med school and their plan covers a whopping $100,000 per year for something like $1900 per year.  I got her a $2,000,000 policy (20 X $100k) for $56/month (full maternity included, drugs, etc....) through Blue Cross (MD).

So for her it was 20 times the benefit at one third the cost.  If we knew where you lived we might be able to recommend a third company altogether.

    Good luck,

  3. Typically, the plan through the university is going to be a high deductible or catastrophic plan, but you will have to compare both coverages to see which is better, for YOU.

  4. You should call HumanaOne and ask them what the benefit would be if you obtain services at your university health center. Most university health centers do not accept commercial insurance. Then ask the school what the coverage is at the university health center as well. I would pick the one that pays the most at the university health center. If you are living on campus, this is where you will obtain most of your health care.

Or, if you can afford it, you can even carry both. If you do that report it to both insurance carriers so they can tell you which is primary. (But In my opinion, having 2 carriers is a pain in the butt.)

  5. Humana, because you will own the policy, not the university. As long as you continue to pay the premiums you cannot be canceled, or singled out for a rate increase. Besides, most college plans are "limited benefit" policies.
