  1. this is just a thought did you buy the stair lift or did the council have it put in for you i ask because my mums lift was put in buy the council and any repair they pay for

  2. From the suppliers - and even for a straight one of 14 stairs it will cost you £295 - A YEAR ! ! !

    (and it's called insuRance)

  3. This is a US answer:

If it is permanently installed in the stair well, I would think it would be included in the building coverage on his homeowners policy. Call his homeowners insurance agent & talk to them about it.  He would probably want to increase his building coverage by the amount the stair lift cost plus the installation.

If he rents, he would need a renters policy & add "additions & alterations" coverage, it can be done.  Again, call a local insurance agent to find out about coverage.

  4. Depends what cover you want. If you want standard household cover for standard risks, I would phone the household insurers that do the house and tell them there is a lift in and the cost etc. They will include it on the household cover.

If, however, you would like breakdown cover, I suggest you start with the suppliers of the lift and buy an extended warranty to cover the equipment now it is out of its years cover.

  5. check with his home insurance providers.

  6. I would think any insurance company would insure this for you, shop around for the best value.

  7. If you have home owners insurance it would be covered under the Dwelling coverage A,  However if you father is a renter you may need to inquire his insurance company and make certain that they cover dwelling improvements.  Once it is permenantly installed it is part of the home and not personal property.  Talk with you current insurance for your best answers.  Steve

  8. I'm surprised the manufacturer isn't offering insurance'

                          Have you tried them?
