Tying and cutting the Fallopian tubes

Last week, my sister in law had her fallopian tubes cut (she has 5 kids, the oldest is 11 years old, the youngest is 3 months old). I don't know this works (and neither does she). How does this work? Does she still get a period? Can she still get pregnant?

  1. That is false. There is one in a thousand chance of getting pregnant.  If you think of how many people are in the world, thats really not a low chance.   I am living proof.  I had my tubes tied in 2007.  I find out today that I am pregnant.  My tubes were cut and burned.
