Sperm whale vs. Megalodon

A 60 foot male Sperm Whale vs. a 40-50 Megalodon who do you think would win? I think the SW would win all the shark has is powerfull jaws and swims fast. But a SW has its Tail, big head,Jaws and the whale weighs more and has lots of muscle and it also has sonar so if the shark hides the SW will probably know where it is.

  1. Too many people are impressed by the megalodon's stupendous teeth which is said to be able to penetrate a whale's bone. However, that's a human impression. For monsters like the biting sperm whale (suppose it's in size equal to the megalodon. Some evidence undermines this claim), it's not so shocking, for the whale's enormous size and it's more devestating teeth.

A female orca has a size equal to Great White shark. And the GW has a set of dagger-like teeth. But what does they mean to the orca? Just so so. And the female orca could easily outmanuevre the shark, despite its impressive (for humans) teeth.

  2. There is a big truth. Did anybody ever hear of a shark ripping off a fin or glutting a fluke tip of a dolphin with equal size? He is unable to do that. The mammal opponent is too much for the fish. Stamina, explosiveness, agileness, swiftness, stockiness? In every aspect relevant to fighting, the shark falters. A Pacific Bottlenose dolphin could easily outmanuevre a shark of an equal size.

  3. Basically, if there is a prehistorical battle between a predator mammal and a fish or a reptile counterpart (given they have an equal size), the mammal holds the upper hand. Simply put, the more effcient motablism prevails. This has at least three implications: much bigger explosive force; much more agile and swift; much more stamina. Fish and reptile could not put out both explosive force (along with agileness) and stamina but the mammal could.

Some video is designed to show that a swift megalodon rips off a biting sperm whale's fin or gluts its fluke tip. That's just a fantasy. The speed of the meaglodon is much slower than the whale (according to the video, 24km/s vs 40km/s). Before the maw of the shark could engage the whale's body, the whale propels himself to a distance from the shark. Yes, the shark could rely on ambush. However, the whale is capable of echolocating so it can detect the shark in well advance of the shark's perception of the whale. If there is any ambush, it is the whale, not the shark that could employ it. As to clashes logheads, the shark is much inferior to the whale.

I don't understand where these experts got the idea that the megalodon is more agile than the biting sperm whale. Just because the megalodon is cartlaged? Let's examine the case of Orca vs Great White Shark . Is there any sigal pointing to the superiority of the shark's agileness? No, nothing, even given the fact that the GW is much humbler in size. Suppose a shark more agile than a whale with an equal size? Nearly impossible. Before the megalodon could engage the biting sperm whale's fins or fluke tip, the whale has done the entire job of grabbing a string of chunks of the shark flesh, or simply clashing the shark in his belly or head, leading internal bleeding or lethal damage in the fish's guts.

  5. ?

  6. I believe megalodon would win because it is highly adapted for hunting whales, it has the strongest bite from any animal, and the sperm whale has no great offense towards badly wounding it. They are pretty much equal in size and almost in weight, but the sperm whale just doesn't have the weapons or the attitude to take out a meg. There is proof that megs have bitten through thick whales and cracked their bones in one bite, they hunt whales by coming under them and biting their tails off. They may also either go for the fins, or the stomach, because of its whale superior hunting method and the sperm whales relatively feeble jaw strength, the megalodon should EASILY win.
