South African wanting to move to Australia?

I am kiwi girl. I have been in the UK for 2.5 years... I am already thinking about going back to my side of the world in another 4 years.

My boyfriend is South African and I have heard that it is difficult for him to get a Visa. He is no longer able to get a working holiday visa as he is over 30. He is not highly skilled.

Anyone been through this before?

  1. If he doesn't have skills that are in demand in Australia, he most probably won't be able to get a visa in his own right. Your best bet will probably be to try to get him into NZ as your spouse/partner. Once he has NZ PR, he should be able to get to Australia if that's your ultimate ambition.

Another possibility would be for you to apply for Australian PR status yourself and then bring him to Oz as your partner. Check out the Australian website to see the requirements for

    a) you becoming an 'official' PR (fairly easy for Kiwis)

    b) obtaining a spouse visa for him (proof required of a genuine and enduring relationship).

  2. Australia works on a points system. The more things you have that they want, the more points you get. You get points for qualifications, how much money you can invest in the country, things like that.  It's not that easy to get a visa
