Fifth round of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy Division two 2010-11 was played from 22 to 25 November. So far, State Bank of Pakistan is on top of the points table of division two and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Quetta-c835 at the bottom. Whereas, Abbottabad, Lahore Shalimar
and KRL are expected to give a tough time to State Bank of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 in a run for the top position on the points table.
At the LCCA ground Lahore, both the teams of Lahore were up against each other. Captain of Lahore Shalimar, Kashif Mehmood won the toss and decided to field first on a track that was not very helpful for the batsmen. His decision proved to be a good one
as Lahore Ravi were bowled out for only 107 runs in their 1st innings. Only 3 batsmen of Lahore Ravi went into double figures. Fast bowler Aamer Hayat took a 6-wicket haul with his new ball partner Emmad Ali getting the rest of the 4 wickets.
In reply, Lahore Shalimar did not come up with a better effort in their 1st innings either. At one stage they were 97 for 8 but their last 2 wickets yielded 47 important runs and made sure that Lahore Shalimar gets a handy 1st innings
lead of 38 runs. Abdul Ghaffar took 5 wickets for Lahore Ravi.
As the wicket was getting better to bat on with the passage of time, Lahore Ravi displayed a better batting performance in its 2nd innings. They managed 193 runs through Muzzafar Mehboob’s 75 off only 102 balls. Aamer Hayar took 6 wickets in the
2nd innings as well and finished the match with a total of 12 scalps.
Lahore Shalimar needed 156 runs to secure a victory which they achieved because of a responsible batting effort by their top-order batsmen and won by 7 wickets. Opener Irfan Zaman remained the top-scorer with 73. Asif Raza, Abdul Ghaffar and Tanzeel Altaf
took one wicket each.
At the Abbottabad Cricket Stadium, home team was up against the experienced KRL. Muhammad Wasim won the toss for KRL and decided to field first.
As expected, Abbottabad were bowled out cheaply by the KRL fast bowlers. Home team only managed to score 123. The opener, Waqar Orakzai scored 40 runs and remained the top-scorer in the 1st innings. The star for KRL was the tall left-armer, Muhammad
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Irfan-c64444 who took a 5-wicket haul. The experienced medium pacer Jaffer Nazir grabbed 4 wickets on the other end.
KRL replied strongly in their 1st innings with Saeed Anwar Jr and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ali-Khan-c996 scoring hundreds. The later scored 137 while Anwar scored 122. KRL decided to declare the 1st innings at 367 for the loss of 8 wickets. Ahmed Jamal took 4 wickets
for Abbottabad.
In their 2nd innings, the home team was once again dismissed at a cheap score. They were bowled out for 158 and lost by an innings and 86 runs. None of the batsmen from Abbottabad managed to score a half-century. Rahat Ali took 5 wickets in the
2nd innings for KRL.
