hi. i am a dancer, so i was thinking about taking pilates to help me become more flexible and stuff [seeinga s how im not as flexible as i should be lol] i was just wondering, how long will it take to see results if i do it alongside dance 5 days a week [stretching there] and stretching at home? i am already kinda flexible, i can do a right split and am pretty close to my left/center but they are very tight [like i can do the split on the floor and it hurts, but i cant do a decent panche or grande battement]

also, will pilates help with strengthening your core muscles?

how has pilates worked for you?

^lol dumb question but i wanna know =]

  1. i don't know how much it will help you with flexibility, but it will definitely make you stronger all around.

  2. Pilates is AMAZING for a dancer...

It will strengthen the core so easily. It's also a chanllenge and it's always fun to be challenged!

  3. It's not a dumb question at all, and the good news is you can see the results within days. I am totally serious; I had not been dancing for a little while but within a week of starting yoga and pilates I was in the same flexibility range as the rest of the class. I'm basically flexible, but it really does loosen your hips and allow you to really kick and battement with ease. And it will help core strength; which will do wonders for your posture in ballet (and you know how important that is!)
