Good places to live in Newcastle upon tyne?

Salut! I'm gonna be moving up to Newcastle for a few months, so I'm tryin to sniff out the scene a little before I go. I'm a writer, 20's, not a ton of money, so lookin for someplace cheap but with some good soul. I live in Hackney in London right now, which is pretty good for me- lots of other art people around, nobody too inflated, a bit rough round the ol edges maybe. Sooo, any suggestions on where I & my budget might fit in all right will be most heartily welcomed. Thank'ye all, Rich
