Can you get a Tattoo in Australia if you are under 18 but have parental permission?

I went to a Tattoo Shop and they said regerdless you had to be 18

Im fairly sure you must be 16 with parental consent, otherwise 18 to do it on your own.

Yep, you can :) My ex had one done when he was 16, his mum took him, and it's definitely allowed! ... But i dare say there may be a 'cut off' age, regardless of parental consent...
