Back-to-back A3 races produce exciting results at Hall Green
There is nothing quite like the excitement of beginning your day with a visit to the races. No matter what the hour, the dogs are always sure to delight, and delight they did in the early
480m races at the Hall Green Greyhound Stadium.
Westmead Marlin (4-1) raced to a close finish in the first of two back-to-back A3 races. After bounding out of trap two, he held an early pace, and soon led to claim the victory with a
time of 29.28. Finishing just a neck’s length behind him was Drunscraw Joe (7-2), who placed second. He had a clear run, which resulted in a 29.30 second finish.
Burnpark Debbie (6-1) rounded out the top three with her third-place finish in 29.42, which was 1½ lengths behind second place. She held an early pace and challenged early, but ultimately
fell a bit behind. The fourth-place finisher was Supreme Hawk, the 2-1 favourite. He crowded first and bumped three-quarters, losing two lengths in the process. He completed the race in 29.58.
Fifth place went to Killishin Sasha, the 11-2 long shot. She also bumped first and crowded three-quarters, and finished the race in 29.68, 1¼ lengths behind Supreme Hawk. The sixth and
final spot was claimed by Whiteoak Iris (9-2), who faded from the three-quarter mark. She would go on to finish in 29.98, 3¾ lengths out of fifth place.
In the second A3 race, We Can Yes said yes to a win after an early pace from trap six. He would go on to lead second en route to a 29.30 finish. The 9-2 long shot’s first-place finish
was a big surprise for many. Lizzie Flinders, the 3-1 favourite, earned second place by only ¾ lengths. A clear run led her to a time of 29.36.
The number three spot went to Jakes Pride (4-1), who was forced to check, and also bumped three-quarters. He would go on to finish the race in 29.64, which was 3½ lengths out of second
place. Garys King (7-2) led to second, but impeded three-quarters. He placed fourth in 30.00, missing out on a top-three finish by 4½ lengths.
Compass Tucker (6-1) finished fifth after being forced to check three-quarters. His time of 30.10 placed him 1¼ lengths behind Garys King. Finally, Polnoon Fire (7-2) took last place after
stumbling badly in the run up. He lot 5 lengths as a result, and finished in 30.50.
The greyhound races at Hall Green Greyhound Stadium resume on Tuesday, October 19, with the first race of the evening slated to begin at 19:25.
