Australia's comprehensive victory in the warm up match
Australia have beaten the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 Cricket Board Eleven (BCP XI) by an emphatic margin of 90 runs in a warm up match ahead of the One Day International series between the two countries. This is a good start of the tour by the Kangaroos especially because
this is Michael Clarke’s first official tour as the regular Australian captain.
Clarke won the toss for the visitors and elected to bat on a classic batting track at the
http://www.espncricinfo.com/bangladesh-v-australia-2011/content/ground/56667.html. It turned out to be a right decision as the Aussie top order made the best use of batting conditions in Fatullah and played their shots at will.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Watson-c96326 was dismissed cheaply but former captain Ricky Ponting consolidated the Aussie innings along with Brad Haddin. Both of them scored their runs at a good rate and made sure that they lay a solid platform for the middle
order batsmen.
Michael http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Clarke-c51120 and Michael Hussey made the best use of the start they got and scored valiant half-centuries which helped the Kangaroos to pile up 308 runs on the board for the loss of six wickets in the allotted 50 overs.
Ponting and Hussey scored 69 runs each, whereas Haddin and Clarke scored 66 and 55 runs respectively before they were retired out. Cameron White who had a poor World Cup 2011 failed to find form in the warm up game and was dismissed for only four runs.
Dolar Mahmud, Subashish Roy, Mahbubul Alam, Farhad Reza and Shuvagoto Hom picked up a wicket each for the BCP XI.
Chasing a huge score in the second innings, BCP XI was in big trouble at one stage with both the openers back to the pavilion with only 12 runs on the board. Maisuqur Rahman and Raqibul Hasan took control of the situation from then onwards and scored 149
runs for the third wicket partnership. However, the batsmen to follow could not handle the pressure and failed to make an impression on the game.
Maisuqur Rahman remained the top scorer for BCP XI with 68 runs which came off 103 balls with the help of five boundaries. Captain Raqibul Hasan also shined as he scored 65 runs for which he consumed 94 balls and struck five boundaries.
Star of the show for Australia was John Hastings who took four wickets including a hat-trick. Mitchell Johnson picked up a couple of wickets, whereas left arm spinner Xavier Doherty claimed a victim each.
This was a good practice match for Australia as they are trying to rebuild their team after they failed to defend their title for the third consecutive time. It is also the start of a new era for the Aussies in many ways as they are trying to groom a new
captain as well as younger players for the future.
