  1. Just reset the Napco Magnum1008e control panel. Thanks to all who post their experiences. Here is what I did:

    (1) Power down: both battery and AC.
To avoid unexpected alarm, disconnect the bell/speaker(from lug 3), too.

    (2) Short from Aux - which is lug 6 to the top right 5th pin of the main chip which has 40 pins.
In fact any ground in the circuit board will work since Aux – is the ground.
Also, if there is a metal shell over the main chip, do not bother to take it off. Simply take the circuit board off and ask a person to locate the 5th pin of the chip on the back of the circuit board and connect it to the lug.

    (3) Power up: both AC and battery.

    (4) Within 3 minutes, go to the keypad, press and hold button 8 until it keypad beeps, then enter 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, which is the default dealer code.

I had 2 troubles on it
A: it was impossible to input the code since the system report error. Try to press and hold button 9 to reset it. If you know you user code, also try to use it to reset the error.

B: there was no error but the default code did not work. I am in fact does not sure how I made it work. But here was what happened: the person taking care of short the pin 5th accidently disconnected the pin and had to reconnect it while I was trying the default code. Then the default code worked!

    (5) Followed the instructions to change the dealer code and user program code…

The problem I had was that the new dealer code and user program code did not work. It was always the default value: 456789 and 123456.
Guess what, the next day I connected battery and changed the code, it worked! So, battery must be connected to change dealer code and user program code!

Also, do get the right manu since 1008e, 1000e, 1008LDKL… have different programming manual. I first used 1000e manual for 1008e and waste quite a lot time. Open the box hosting the control panel, there is model number inside box.
