my 2 male Cocker Spaniels

Hi we have received a cocker spaniel male from a family that loved him very much.But because the dog started peeing on the toys of the young child they could no longer keep him.It seem he was all right with the other children before.We have had him two nights the 1st night he was ok but the 2nd night he peeed on the carpet.He was let out at 10pm and then in the morning at 6.30pm.What seems to be the problem?
