what is the best way to fix faded out paint on chevy

I am the proud owner of a 91 chevy astro van. It has been with me through thick and thin but the hood and top has lost its clear coat and faded. Good thing is that the sides and rear doors still have their shine. The vehicle has 100,000 miles on it and still runs excellent,I would like to fix the paint, was thinking of taking it to the experts but then in the last minute decided to do it myself. I would love to get some tips on what to do and how to fix this paint problem.

I believe your vehicle is undergoing oxidation. Wash your car first and then follow through with claying. Polish your car with an aggressive polish and pad. Use a less aggressive polish to remove the halos. Finally, use a sealant and /or wax to protect the paint from future oxidation.
