Wrestlers will achieve the classification points after every spell. The winning team in the IWL will be awarded special prize money. For the sake of motivation, exclusive medallions will also be distributed among the Wrestling Champions of the IWL.
The newly-elected WFI President, Dushanayat Sharma said, “To highlight the game of wrestling in the country, we have decided to organise an IPL-type championships and matches in wrestling across the country between November-December this year.” The WFI has
selected eight states for the upcoming IPL-like matches and championships.
Sharma had been associated with wrestling for many years and grabbed a bronze medal in the World Wrestling Championship. He is working hard for the development of the sport and is hoping for a good outcome of the new setup of wrestling. The Indian wrestlers
did well in the Commonwealth Games and Asian Games and they are now looking to make a good mark in the Olympics.
Dushanayat Sharma revealed the wrestlers were preparing day and night for the London Games 2012. The WFI is also planning to organize different championships across India to enhance the scope of wrestling. The sport of wrestling is already popular among
the masses of India and will become more famous after the success of IWL.
Sharma hails from the beautiful valley of Jammu and Kashmir and while discussing the future of the sport in his homeland, he said, “I assure the macho sport will get a facelift in the state.”
