Wolf pack vs hyena pack?

timber wolf vs. hyena? timber wolf are large, and vry big, hyena has no chance againts this male wolf, i mean 1 vs. 1, someone agreed?

This is just my opinion but I believe the only advantage the Hyena has against the Wolf would be the size of the pack, but if it was 10 vs. 10 I believe the Wolf would come out the winner at least 8 out of 10 times. But this is just my opinion. After all a Wolf is specialized in hunting in a group. If a Wolf pack had 10 to 15 members they could take down some pretty big prey. A Hyena may have a harder bite but it wouldn't matter if it couldn't get a kill shot in the neck of a Wolf, because even if it landed a hit anywhere else on the Wolf it would still have to fight it because of the Wolfs endurance. Speed and agility are two other key points in a battle not just power.

Wolves will run from the smaller striped hyena in Syria, and wolves and spotted hyenas once lived together in Europe during the last Ice Age. Hyenas pretty much dominated the open plains until the forests favoured by wolves began replacing their habitat.

People keep going on about the intelligence of wolves, yet seem to forget that hyenas have had their intelligence put on par with that of some primate species. I have yet to hear anyone describe wolf intelligence by bringing up primates

I still have to give it to the hyenas jaw 1 good bite is all they need & game over. 1 on 1 a hyena would win. Hyena packs greatly out number wolf packs so hyena wins no matter wat.

Hyenas have a bite force stronger than a big cats- even though wolves are quick and agile, I think they would get scared at these large animals- especially since the spotted hyenas are so large, not to mention loud. One well placed bite from the hyena, and the wolf is down. Depending on the individual- let's say, a healthy spotted hyena, and a healthy gray wolf, the hyena would win.
The size and power difference is too much for a wolf to handle- in a group versus one hyena, the hyena would most likely be killed.
Even though hyenas and wolves take down very much of the same prey, they fight larger predators than a wolf would even DREAM of facing. The hyenas are much more versatile and more capable of fleeing and fighting, where the wolf would have no idea.
