My mentor in energy conversion asks why our house receive 220 volts the fact that the transmission line of our power source gives off 240 volts? Is voltage drop responsible for it?

  1. in australia voltage is believed generally to be 240, in actual fact its 230 because supply at 230 is better for supply authority in terms of cost of power generation, as no real detriment to consumer is apparent. interesting huh?
if your appliance works ok, is ok.
    where you from?
if your house is miles from anywhere, you may measure 220.
