  1. Elizabeth I (7 September 1533 – 24 March 1603) was the fifth and last monarch of the Tudor dynasty. Since she died without issue, the crown was passed onto her nephew, King James VI of Scotland, who was crowned King James I of England in 1603. His claim the English crown was from his mother Mary Qeen of Scot, who was the granddaughter of Princess Margaret Tudor, elder sister to King Henry VIII, and  an aunt of Queen Elizabeth I. King James was the first monarch to rule from the House of Stuart.

  2. Elizabeth I, daughter of Henry VIII.

  3. As N1 said, there were only 3 female Tudor Monarchs: Jane Grey, Mary I and Elizabeth I, who was the last Monarch of the dynasty.

Mordent, Jane Grey was never consort to Edward. She was the granddaughter of Henry VIII's younger sister Mary. In his will, King Edward named Jane as his successor, however it contradicted Henry VIII's will and Order of the succession, which stated that Edward, if childless, should be followed by Mary, who, if childless, should in turn be followed by Elizabeth.

Only if Elizabeth died childless as well, the Greys would succeed her. The Stuarts were completely omitted from the Line of the Succession (though Mary, Queen of Scots, was descendant of Henry's older sister Margaret).

Of course, the Greys never succeeded Elizabeth, even though she did die childless. To ensure peace between the countries and to unite them under one crown, James of Scotland was called to become King of England.

Elizabeth herself is said to have named James as her successor, although that is disputed.

  4. Elizabeth I- following her death in 1603 King James I of England began the Stuart dynasty.

  5. Actually, the last TUDOR monarch, period.

    Queen Elizabeth I.

She died a "virgin" and childless, leaving the throne to James Stuart, the VI of Scotland and the I of England...starting the Suart dynasty.
