Who do you support in the Russia vs Georgia war?

its kinda pissing me off that everyone here in the United States support georgia in that war. If georgia started the fight what did they expect Russians to do? Just sit there and watch their sitizens die? And now united states sais that russia was too hard on them

Georgia didn't start the fight.  Georgia has been battling 'separatists' (rebels, terrorists) in S. Ossetia, and other areas, that are funded by Russia.  In fact, Russia has even been sending fighters to those regions to attack Georgia.  Russia, in a very transparent move, issued Russian passports to the people of S. Ossetia so that they could say that they were attacking Georgia to "protect Russians."  Handing out passports doesn't make someone Russian or give Russia the right to attack another country.  It was a ridiculous ploy and clearly shows how Russia is lying and was planning to invade Georgia.

Most Americans see through that bull.

Russia started it by trying to control Georgian territory in Ossetia through their separatists. Its Georgia's country they every right to try and maintain their sovereignty. You better watch Russia . They will likely be allied with the Chinese in an expansionist movement in coming years. Don't think that Iran won't be involved either, and God knows who else. It just wont pay to be a Jew in coming years as evil nations will most likely attempt to exterminate them again.

At first I'll say that all you know about this war is absolutely false. All of you are sitting many miles away from Georgia and everything you see is your TV screen.

The second thing is... My friends were there in this war and some of them died. And all of them blamed Saakashvili for starting this Genocide. He used "Grad" systems to attack Ossetia - all of you could see this on TV. "Grad" destroys every living thing in more than 100 meter radius. And he was attacking Tskhinval - his own territory. It's a simple genocide,

You say that Russia was gaining land in georgia? No need. There is not so much oil or something else in georgia to start the war for this. Few of russian missiles could totally destroy the whole country of georgia...if only russia wanted this.

  The third. Georgians are now unable to use ".ru" internet resources. They can only watch and hear only the things they are given to watch and to hear. Just like most of you. Here are some videos you can watch and think about.

obviously you must support the US in the Iraq war.   Surely you wouldn't be a hypocrite and support the little nation getting their a$$ses kicked by a big bully.  If you support the undefeatable big nation waltzing in there with missiles and tanks killing civilians, you must definitely also support the US in Iraq.  If you do not support the US in Iraq, yet support Russia in Georgia, then you are clearly a bigoted hypocrite.

I also like how Russia is GAINING NEW LAND in their evil attack against Georgia.  Note that US never gains new land...not a single territory in Iraq is property of the US.  Russia, like China taking over Tibet...is out to expand its empire by taking new land.  This makes russia a vile and wicked stench of a nation.

Even if I don’t completely support the actions of Georgia, I strongly oppose Russian actions, regardless of how much it may p**s you off.  The situation in Georgia was none of their business.

This is where you are mistaken.  Georgia didn't start a fight with Russia.  The Georgians were trying to reclaim sovereign land that has been captured and held by separatists.  This was between Georgia, South Ossetia and Abkhazia, another break away section of Georgia.  Russia stepped in and granted citizenship to those separatists, because then it would give them an excuse to step in and interfere.  I believe they did this because they want to either control or destroy the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline, which keeps Russia from having an energy monopoly over most of Europe and because they wished to reclaim land, which was previously part of the USSR.  Besides, if the Russians are only in this to protect their citizens, as they claim, why are they deep in undisputed Georgian land?  Let’s say that Texas wanted to break away from the US.  Would you support Mexico granting citizenship to Texans and then invading United States territory to gain control of Texan oil supplies, all the while explaining it away as if they were trying to protect Texans from the US government, who would be trying to reclaim the state?

He is half way to there...  Russia is trying to save the influence on Post soviet Republics, but these republics invaded 90-70 years ago Know know price of Russian hegemony and slavery and are trying to escape it by becoming NATO members, they hope that NATO will Protect them.

If you See National Interests Of Russia, Proved By Duma in 2001 you'll see on statement, that Russians National interest is to become center in multipolar World and spread its influence on CAcuasus, Eastern Europe and they central Asia.

  In fact National interests of Post soviet Countries (about becoming NATO members) intervenes with Russians National Interest and that coses Conflict (war). If these countries Become NATO member than Russia won't have any influence and will lose it's national interest, that is most important think for any country.

  Russia Claims to be Democratic (according to Freedom house it's democracy level is quite Poor and is falling every year),so it can't just go in another country and invade it (spreat influence by putting there puppet government) and is seeking for reasons or Creating Reasons. Russia Provocated Georgia By killing it's Soldier in S. Ossetia conflict Region and by shooting Georgian Villages in the Region. Georgian government lost Temper and responded on agression. Russia had already prepared militaries as was planning this provocation long before and began invading Georgia, it's main Roads, Railways, ports..

Russia Hoped to:

1) Overthrow Democratic government and tup their puppets Loyal to PutMed.

2) Underline the fact that it has a power and Russians Militaries are strong enough to qonquer a country (in this case Tiny Georgia)

3) Show Nato that they are to accept Country with serious threats that puts hole Nato to threat and in this way frighten tham.

4) To Show the world that only pipeline that doesn't cross Russia and goes to Europe through Georgia isn't as safe as thay sought.

Russia is becoming Evil Empire and if it won't be able to satisfy it's ambitions and appetite as a revenge probably will become partner with Iran and N. Korea (they sell lot's of Armour already there)
