Colin Montgomerie captained Europe in the Royal Trophy in January, his team taking on the best players that Asia have to offer at the Amata Spring course in Thailand. Montgomerie was a playing captain who took over from Seve Ballesteros, because the Spanish player was still recovering from surgery.
