Which is the best place & cheapest place to live in California

BAKERSFIELD,SACRAMENTO I need help i want to move to California and i want to live in a affordable and nice city thats big and has a lot to offer as far as fun,or at least some where thats close in driving distance that i can go to,but you can also tell me about Bakersfield,Sacramento and a few other place snear central or southern California,but what ever you guys feel is a nice places please explain your reason i would appreciate it a lot thanks.

cheapest would have to be in the desert areas E of San Bernardino.

best place is a value judgment; do you prefer the ocean,

a lake, the mountains, desert?  City--suburbs?

I have been to them all and they are all great. [and I lived in Sac

for 10 yrs]
