  1. Since in canada, it cant be over 500 fps without a permit....Get a bigger caliber air gun.

    They make .20, .22, .45, .50...

But they get expensive after .22 cal.

    And to answer your question.

Birds..(sparrows, pigeons, crows, etc.)...Maybe with a good shot.

Rabbit..Definitely not unless you are like 10 yards away and you get a FEW headshots...

    Grouse...Doubtful.

The gun is too small a cal. and fps...

  2. You should probably check this site out:

    http://www.airguns.net/general_field_use...

Based on the information there (and assuming you're shooting into the head/neck) and that you're shooting at close range (probably 10-15 meters), you should be able to take the following with your gun: sparrow, mouse, starling, pigeon, & squirrel. You might (stress the might) be able to take rabbit/squirrel, but the site indicates your gun might be just a bit shy of having enough power.

  3. try to get some of those pellets that increase the velocity. I forget what they call them because I'm not much into air guns, but I know they exist. They are lighter weight and add something like 30% more velocity or more to the gun.

  4. size doesn't matter much, but with that low power its either headshots every time or point blank range. If you hit it even in the chest it will suffer a lot and that also makes it taste bad. Go for more power if u want to shoot pigeons and stuff. You definitely wont kill a rabbit with that, its only realy good for plinking.  If you want to 'take it down' then it will probably flap off and hide wounded, so don't try unless its going to die fast.

  5. no it can not take a rabbit down i put the .177 caliber velocity minimum at 750 fps with lead NOT PBA or 8ft lbs of muzzle energy and to take a large grouse(your not gonna kill a baby are ya?) you need at least 5 ft lbs of energy. as for birds with a 500 fps pellet gun the biggest would be the american sparrow or house mouse and the sparrow isint even a pest so dont shoot them and the mice have to be within respectable range
