Question:

What is there to do in Costa Rico for people who are on low-budget plan?

My friends and I are traveling to Costa Rica but we are on a low budget plan as we are just students. We are staying at Costa rica for 6 days and we want to keep the cost less than 600 dollars per person if it's feasible (excludes airfare).

I did some price search on canopying and whitewater rafting, but they were about 50-100 dollars, which would take away big chunk of our budget. So we are not interested in those.

I would like to know:

1. What kind of activities we can do there? (see list below)

2. How much would that cost?

3. Any thoughts/recommendation of our plan?

My places-to-go list was something like this:

La Fortuna, Arenal Volcano, Jaco, Monteverde, Guanacaste Beaches

  1. If you go to Monteverde you can stay at a place called Pension Santa Elena. A lot of young back packers mostly college students from all over stay there its a fun atmosphere and really cheap. Around $8 a day to stay there. Also in Monte Verde you can get student discounts for canopy tours you would only pay $30 with your student id cards for a canopy tour with Selvatura. Check out the different canopy prices for students on this link. http://monteverdetours.com/tours/monteve...

Just ask for student discounts where ever you go and look for nice hostels there are a lot around and use the public bus transportation and in six days youll be able to enjoy with $600.
