i have to do an assignment on geothermal energy and i need to know what it is, how is geothermal energy different from a type of fuel and how and when it was developed, used, and improved. thanks sososoososo much :D

  2. Geothermal energy is the energy produced by hot gassess under the earth surface. Please go through the link below...i'm sure this would serve your need....Good luck.

It's essentially heat produced from thermal activity within the earth, like that from volcanic activity.  I assume anything from hot gasses to steam can be used.  Steam would be the most practical.  I suspect though, in most cases, they heat it even further by conventional means to get more efficient use from it.

    Like most "green" energy sources, it probably works best as an auxiliary assist, not as a main energy source.  Iceland is one of the few places, if not the only place, to have a lot of volcanic steam venting along with a small enough population to make it sufficient.

We can use the steam and hot water produced inside the earth to heat buildings or generate electricity. Geothermal energy is a renewable energy source because the water is replenished by rainfall and the heat is continuously produced inside the earth.
