There's a new band that nobody seems to have mentioned called "Us, From Outside".  I've been listening to them non stop. They are one of those rare bands that took a genre and made it their own instead of doing the most popular thing. They have the occasional breakdowns used tastefully and the lyrics are amazing.  They're on Tragic Hero records which has a great artist roster too. Sorry for babbling I just thought this band was worth mentioning. I have a feeling they're gonna be pretty big so remember that you heard it here first :P

You know? I've looked at all the bands everyone has posted, and I'm surpised no one has mentioned Children of Bodom. Check them out. I personally love their song Angels Don't Kill the most. Also, Asking Alexandria (as some people have mentioned) is a good band. I like their songs Final Episode and A Prophecy. Amazing songs. But, Japanese and other foreign bands are better than American bands. If you want Melodic Death Metal, look up Blood Stain Child. They have a lot of screams in their songs. The first song that I heard from them was Peacemaker, and is still one of my favorites by them. I also like their song Void. So check them out. You might like them.
