Western Province v KwaZulu-Natal Inland – CSA Provincial One-Day Competition, 2012/2013 – Match Update
Bolstered by Yusuf Abdulla’s five-wicket haul, KwaZulu-Natal Inland claimed a massive 82-run win over Western Province in the ongoing CSA Provincial One-Day Competition, at the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Paul-John-Walter-Allott-c81119 Wilson Oval in Newlands, Cape Town, on October 14.
Western Province won the toss and decided to field first, and the efforts of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Moegamat-Qaasim-Adams-c76476 (10-0-48-2), saw KwaZulu-Natal Inland restricted to a final total of 237 by the end of 50 overs.
Openers Nick Hendrie (28) and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Brad-Moses-c48267 (45) got the innings off to a good start with a 41-run stand, but Hendrie fell prey to Bothma in the 10th over. However, his successor Lepono Ndhlovu top-scored for the team with 82, in addition to setting
up a 76-run stand with Moses.
Adams struck in the middle of the innings to take out both Moses (in the 31st over) and skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kyle-Nipper-c71975 (23) was the last highlight
of the innings, and following Nipper, Jared http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Graham-Robert-Cowdrey-c60631 Heerden (14) was the only other batsman who manage to contribute a double-digit score.
Ruhan Pretorius was dismissed by Bothma on duck, and wicketkeeper Chad Barron was sent packing after a mere 1-run contribution. By the end of 50 overs, with 8 wickets down, KwaZulu-Natal Inland posted a final total of 237.
KwaZulu-Natal Inland followed up their mediocre batting performance with a fierce bowling attack, led by Abdulla (10-1-33-5), and with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Tabraiz-Shamsi-c92565 (7.3-1-33-2) and Brady Barends (7-0-24-2) chipping in with supporting performances.
Abdulla commenced by sweeping the Western Province’s openers, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Matthew-Caleb-Kleinveldt-c75120 (17) off the pitch early for paltry scores. Kyle Schreuder top-scored for the team with 46, and his 65-run partnership with Adams (31) remained
the highlight of the team’s innings.
The remainder of the batting order managed meagre contributions, and with the exception of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Siyambulela-Mashicile-c90530 Simetu (12), none of the batsmen managed to reach double figures. By the 41st over, Western Province
were all out at 155, granting KwaZulu-Natal Inland a comprehensive 82-run victory.
