WBA heavyweight title fight - Saturday: David Haye at
3 stone weight disadvantage against Audley Harrison

In the WBA heavyweight title fight scheduled for today at the already sold out Men’s Arena, Manchester, David Haye would be at a sizeable weight disadvantage after it was found out that he was three stone lighter than his rival, Audley Harrison. Stepping
onto the scale, Harrison was the first one to measure his weight. He was found 18 stone and 1.5lbs. However, Haye turned out to be only 15 stone and 0.5lbs which would be his lightest as a heavyweight contender.
But still, while commenting on his weight disadvantage, Haye said that he was happy and content with it, to which Harrison intimated the title holder to soon be in a “whole heap of trouble.” The big battle would be the third time for both Briton fighters
to contest for the world heavyweight title. Haye, the defending champion, who had weighed 15 stone and 1.2lbs in his last fight against John Ruiz in April, seemed least bothered about the weight advantage of his 39-year-old rival.
While disclosing the reason for his confidence, Haye, who claimed the WBA title against Nikolay Valuev, said, “I am stronger than I was from the last fight, I am pushing more weights. I have not been cutting corners in the gym, I have done everything right.
Before we started training, I was told if I hit all my targets in the gym, if I have a perfect training camp, then I’d come in around 15 stones.”
The marvellous performer of the ring claimed that he was currently enjoying more energy than ever before. He added that the spectators would witness a more traditional battle as he would be getting close to Audley. “I am hoping for the best, Audley Harrison”
he concluded.
Earlier, the 30-year-old and 6ft 3in tall London dweller entered the arena in a baggy white T-shirt with the words “No You Can't’ printed on it in bold. Haye’s body language spoke of his relaxed and confident attitude, smiling and shaking hands with Lennox
Lewis before waving to the crowd. On the contrary, Harrison looked more serious.
Considering Saturday evening's big fight, Harrison’s emphasizes was on boasting about his weight advantage. He was of the view that his past record depicted that measured weight was good for him as it made him feel strong and fast. About Haye’s weight, Harrison
stated, “It’s a good thing for me that he’s come in light, in a long hard fight that’s going to be my advantage and his disadvantage.” He concluded saying that the fight would be about who was the better fighter and he believes it is him.
