Question:

Vitamin C and Testing For UTI's?

by  |  earlier

Monday I get tested to see if my UTI is gone. In the middle of treatment I got the flu and was taking large doses of Vitamin C(2-3000 mg a day). Now I find out Vitamin C will cause a false negative on this test. How long will it take to get the C out of my system? Should I reschedule the test? Does the C in fruit juice count, should I stop drinking those? Thanks for any help.

  1. vit c moves thru ur system quickly thru your urine. It is not stored..stop the c intake.drink nothing with absorbic acid in it. drink  at least  1 qrt of water today and tomorrow..ur good to go.

  2. Vit C is "water soluble" and flushes through your system fairly quickly, certainly within 24 hours.

There is no evidence that taking megadoses of any vitamins accomplishes anything.  All of that extra Vit C you took basically ended up in the sewer system.
