Video converter to convert files to 3gp format that really work?

Question

So I have some avi, wmv files that I want to convert to 3gp. I have tried a lot of converters from download.com but they all suck. None of them worked.

I want to do this offline, so don't suggest sites like media-convert.com .

If you know any such converter, that you have used yourself, let me know.
