Validity of passport?

Question

Hi all,

We want to apply for a visitor visa for US this month but we intend to go there on December 23, for Christmas, one week. My spouse's passport expires in June 11 next year so it will be valid 5 months and a half after we enter US. Is it a problem? Sorry but I do not understand the thing with "six months validity" for the passport. Thanks.
