Question:

Urgent Bioshock help needed?

I recently bought a copy of Bioshock, and installed it. However, I can not start the game. When I start the game, it does not go past the loading screen. The one time it did, it froze right after the short intro video and I had to restart my computer, as I do every time it freezes. I am above the minimum system requirements. I even tried putting it on the lowest settings possible, and it will still not load. I also tried patching it with the 1.1 update, but when I try it says that it found files of the names it is looking for but their contents do match so it doesn't actually patch anything. It IS a legal, purchased copy of Bioshock. I have not applied any mods, cracks, etc, and the files are just as they were from installation.

I downloaded the demo before purchasing the game, to make sure I could run it without any error and the demo ran flawlessly and I could put the graphics on medium, had decent load times, etc.

My computer specs:

3.0 GhZ Pentium 4 CPU

about 2.7 GB of RAM

a Creative sound card

and a ATI Raedon X1650 512MB Graphics card.

and XP operating system.

the min. requirements are a 2.4 Ghz, 1 GB of RAM, and a 128 MB Graphics card. I'm not at the max requirements but I am above the minimum, and on the demo I could put the graphics on medium with a resolution of 1024*768.

No matter what I put the settings on, it will still not go past the load screen. Nor will it patch.

does anyone have ANY clue how I could fix this?
