Question:

US citizen to be Royal Marine?

On the Royal Marines website it says "there are no formal requirements" and then says you must be a UK or Commonwealth citizen. I know in America, military service is used by "green-card" holders to fast track citizenship.

So is UK or Commonwealth citizenship a requirement, or can that be wavier if you are an able enough candidate?

Note: it isn't my fault that US citizens back in the day had to fight England. I wasn't around, and as far as I am concerned, we are basically British.

  2. No, you are basically Canadians, Americans lost the war.

  3. you are not british and  never will be

you are american so get on with it

you cannot be a royal marine

why not join the usa services.

    are you ashamed of them

not as good as out troops

    or what

  4. Actually I think that there is federal law that prevents U.S Citizens from joining foreign armies/navies.

If I am not mistaken you would have to surrender your U.S. Citizenship to do it...I know you loose it if you get commissioned in a foreign service.

If you live abroad and get drafted, and are forced to enlist in another country you still can loose your US citizenship.

  5. A US Citizen can join the British Armed Forces.
