U.S. involvement, with Georgian/Russian War?

Could the U.S. soon become involved in the war with Russia and Georgia if it gets out of hand. U.S. has supplied weapons and provided training to Georgia and they are obviously allies. War with Russia would be a huge deal. What do you think the possibilities could be?

  1. It would be the start of ww3 simple as that.

  2. US always has to butt in, if you haven't noticed.

What could be better? TWO wars going on. Ugh.

  3. The U.S. was training 2,000 Georgian troops and that may be a reason for Russia to go to war with us.

  4. i dont think things will go so far, i mean Georgia doesnt want a war, russia didnt want it too, they just wanted to annex the whole Georgia and the conflict zone was just a good reason enough to move its own troops in Georgia, but they never imagined Georgia cld stand it for so long, but yes, Georgia cld stand that pressure from russia and now the whole world knows how rusians planned to use Olympic games and hush the situation as soons as possible

if theres support from us and from the west and if the democratic world will accuse Russia in wrong and undemocratic steps it will all finish i guess

  5. The USA does not want to get militarily involved in this conflict.  Georgia is an ally of the USA, however there is no open declaration of war.  Also Georgia initiated the attacks in my opinion.  You can't expect to kick massive country like Russia in the nuts and have nothing happen back to you.  Allies are there to protect each other from attack, but no to help you carry out a strike.  I  don't think the USA will get involved unless Russia declares an all out onslaught on Georgia.  In the mean time  I would not be suprised if a few US Carrier battle groups start heading to the region though.  One thing that typically helps deescalate things is when a nation a few USA carriers are on their way.  In a  case like this I would doubt this would happen as Russia is a formitable foe.
