Two race favourites win first two races at Yarmouth today

Early race results are in from Yarmouth, and the first two races have seen race favourites take first place with identical times over identical distances.
In the first race of the day, an A4 match up over 462m, 2-1 race favourite, Plum Punch took to the rails from the first trap and led early. Freaky Turnover did his best to keep up out of the second trap, but couldn’t move on Punch, finishing in second place ¾ lengths behind the winner, who finished with a time of 28.46 seconds.
Annes Memory finished a distant third, beating Dunmurry Trampas, who was closing in, by a shoulder. If it weren’t for a slow start Trampas could very well have beaten Memory. Castlelyons Greg had also closed in on Memory, and finished in fifth just a neck behind Trampas. Perfect Smile will have to get by on her looks after finishing in last place.
The second race of the day was an A2 race, and saw 4-5 race favourite, Sky Classic, win by 1 1/2 lengths over Perfect Listener with a time of 28.46 seconds. Classic was quick from the traps, and pushed out from the rails into the middle without losing the lead at any point in the race.
Sooty Royale took third place by a neck over Scotia Legend as both hounds drove wide, but weren’t able to make moves on the leader. Nightlight Black took fifth spot, and Kingtone Connie was last.
In the third race, another A4, Dunmurry Sugar took the lead at the halfway mark from Sparklee Charlie, and cruised from there to the finish line to take a 1 length win over Ice Cool Fox with a time of 28.58. Charlie, who was the 9-4 race favourite, had a quick start and looked good before losing the lead to Sugar.
Clodeen Seven O came out wide from the sixth trap and wasn’t able to push his way back into the pack, finishing in fourth place, but only 1 ½ lengths behind Charlie. Bryanvale Tess took fifth place while Pyro stuck to the rails from the sixth trap but wasn’t able to pass anybody after a poor start.
The Pick 6 Jackpot will run later today at Yarmouth.  The first of six legs will start at 19:53, and the legs will run consecutively until the sixth leg at 21:12.
