Trish Johnson outside top 20 in Dubai, records 8 top-10 finishes in season
English Trish Johnson, who came close to a victory in some of the tournaments in the LET (Ladies European Tour) 2012 season, could not give a tough time to rivals at the season-ending Omega
Dubai Ladies Masters 2012.
Johnson is one of the most talented players on the LET and has proved her mettle in several tournaments, but she failed to cap off the 2012 in winning style.
The English star carded an overall 282 in the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters, held at Emirates Golf Club, Dubai, and managed to grab a share of 19th position along with four other
contenders.
It was a decent performance, but shooting an overall 282 was not enough to place her inside the top 10. She made a sensible start to her campaign, registering a 70 in the first round. However,
other players made the most of favourable weather and course conditions, booting their positions early in the first day.
The second and third round saw Johnson post a 71. With stars like Spanish Carlota Ciganda and Caroline Masson of Germany battling for the ISPS Handa Order of Merit 2012, players like Johnson
remained out of the spotlight throughout the four days.
Despite not  being able to record a victory in the 2012 season, the LET titan managed to finish 8 tournaments inside the top 10—something reflecting she still has what it takes to trouble
rivals.
Johnson’s best performance was recorded at the Tenerife Open De Espana Femenino 2012, held in September at Las Americans Golf Course, Spain. She posted an overall 280 to take the third position
on the leaderboard.
However, her performance at the Dubai Masters has certainly improved. She struggled to prove her worth at the 2011 edition of the tournament, finishing 68th.
Chinese Shanshan Feng, who was making her debut in Dubai, stunned rivals as she clinched a victory by carding an overall score of 267.
Feng displayed an electrifying performance in the first and last tournament, shooting a 66 and 69 respectively.
“I didn't know how the others were doing.  I was expecting somebody maybe to shoot 10‑, 9‑under today,” Feng said of her last round’s performance at the end of the tournament last Saturday.
