Tottenham Hotspur played hosts to West Ham United last night at White Hart Lane after suffering a hat-trick of defeats in the Premier League.
It had been a very grim and dismal month for the North London club, who experienced a dip in form in the domestic league, and also failed to turn up in the Europa League games.
However, Spurs managed an impressive and convincing performance against the Hammers and dished out a 3-1 footballing lesson to the visitors.
Jermaine Defoe scored a brace for Tottenham while http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gareth-Bale-c14422 also featured on the score-sheet. Andy Carroll had scored a consolation goal for the Hammers in the dying minutes, but Tottenham had been the better team throughout the 90 minutes.

The Frenchman got his third start in the Premier League, and had little to do all evening. He was put to work in the second half and denied Matt Jarvis a shot at goal, and demonstrated his excellent reflexes to deny the winger from getting an equalizer.

The Belgian recovered well from last week’s North London derby and pressed forward on more than one occasion. He continues to be a smart choice at left-back while Benoit Assou-Ekotto is sidelined.

The defender got his first Premier League start of the season as he was favoured over http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/William-Gallas-c36874 at the back. He did well to contain Andy Carroll and was not really tested the whole game.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Kyle-Walker-c21566 – 8
The right-back put in an assured performance and looked comfortable at both ends of the pitch. Walker did well to recover from his recent lacklustre performances.
Clint Dempsey – 9
The American international finally put in a powerful performance and proved why he was signed by Andre Villas-Boas in the summer. He forced Jussi Jaaskelainen into a couple of saves and was involved in all of Spurs’ attacks. He provided Bale for Tottenham’s
second goal and was involved in the third. Dempsey was perhaps one of the best players on the pitch.

The midfielder was calm and composed in possession and passed the ball well. He combined well with Sandro in the middle and did well to break up West Ham’s attacks.

The winger selflessly assisted Defoe for Tottenham’s third goal and put in a good performance. He was substituted for Moussa Dembele in the dying minutes of the game.
Gareth Bale – 9
The Welshman was a constant threat down the left-wing and troubled West Ham throughout the game. He scored a goal in the second half to extend Tottenham’s lead and was full of energy and tenacity.
Sandro – 9
The Brazilian was given the task to keep Mohamed Diame quiet, and did well to contain the physical midfield enforcer. Sandro displayed both his physical and creative side and put in a commanding performance as Spurs’ holding midfield player. He was stretchered
off in the dying minutes, and poses a worry for Villas-Boas in the coming games.

The English striker was Tottenham’s star player as he grabbed a brace and helped them to the three points. Defoe scored his first goal through some spectacular solo work down the right-hand side of the pitch, and added another in the second half to seal
off a convincing and much needed win.
