Team Asia and Team Europe rev it up for Royal Trophy Golf Championship
Team Asia and Team Europe would be renewing their rivalry at the Black Mountain Golf Club, Thailand from the January 7th up till January 9th. The brawl would be held for Royal Trophy Golf Championship title and has a rather geared-up Ryo Ishikawa ready for a heated affray for the Asian side.
According media reports, Ishikawa says he is ready to tackle the Royal Trophy challenge.
“Our team is fantastic and I would be highly satisfied if Asia wins,” said Ishikawa.
The 19-year-old golfer is appearing at the tournament for the third consecutive time and said that Team Asia has assembled a fantastic line-up against Europe. He also added that with the tough assembly prepared, Team Asia might as well produce a good fight and a pleasing win.
Other than Ishikawa representing Team Asia, Matteo Manassero is appearing at the coastal city of Hua Hin from Team Europe's side. The 17-year-old young prodigy hails from Italy and already has one professional win in his record. The young talent is known as the youngest golfer to have ever played at the Masters and turned professional in 2010.
With the Royal Trophy beginning this Friday, the Black Mountain GC is also ready to welcome another young talent, Noh Seung Yul. 19-year-old Seung Yul turned professional in 2007.
According to Ishikawa playing with younger players gives him the chills. ‘Hanikami Ōji’ recalled his time and said that when he was playing at the age of seventeen, people used to look at him in a different way.
As for Manassero, he steps into the field as a hot favourite from the European side. The Italian golfer shook hands with Ishikawa after the news conference was over and said that he would enjoy playing against a Japanese’ favourite over the weekend.
Ishikawa in return thinks they would be making some lasting memories.
“If we manage to play together then I believe we would be making some eternal memories” said the 68kg Japanese.
He’s not taking it easy though. Manassero further added that he is sure of the fact that if he is ever contending for a major title, Ishikawa would be right next to him.
Along with Ishikawa, two of his other fellow compatriots join him against the defending champion, Europe as well. The two golfers are Yuta Ikeda and Shunsuke Sonoda who have a total of 9 and 1 professional triumph in record.
